Nokia has launched a new map app for iOS which in light of the problems Apple had with their own native version could prove quite popular. What’s more, the app is available for free and can be downloaded here. The app is based on NAVTEQ mapping data, which is currently used in 90% of all in-car navigation systems, so (avoiding the obvious jokes about car navigation systems) is likely to be a massive improvement on the Apple’s own native version.
The app includes various views from map view, live traffic view, public transport line view or satellite view. One neat feature, is that you can save map areas to your phone so that you can wander about without using up your data allowance.
In addition, the app features Step-by-step voice guided navigation which will even work on pedestrian routes, parks and alleyways.
Initial reviews from users have been positive with one user posting on the app store saying:
Have you tried out the new map? Let us know what you think.
